Nowadays one of the most accurate measurement methods is optical measurement techniques. Optical measurements are applied for a wide variety of applications such as combustion, automobile, aerodynamics, sprays, fluid mechanics, mixing and heat flow, imaging of industrial processes, and so on.
Optical measurement techniques compared with other techniques, can measure the whole flow field simultaneously in a non-invasive, non-contact, non-intrusive, and fast way. Therefore, using these techniques is so popular in recent years. In this regard, the "Optical Diagnostics and Imaging Laboratory" of Amirkabir University of Technology has been established. There are various experimental facilities to conduct different research experiments in this laboratory.
Dr. Amirreza Ghahremani as one of the faculty members of Amirkabir University of Technology is the supervisor of this laboratory. His research interests are optical measurement of fluids flow, combustion, and heat transfer. In this regard, his research group consisting of motivated and capable students are performing various optical measurement techniques to investigate different phenomena. In order to advance research in these areas, wide variety of optical techniques such as: Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV), Particle Tracking Velocimetry (PTV), Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF), Interferometry, Deflectometry, Spectroscopy, Pyrometry, Schlieren, Shadowgraphy, and so on are applied to measure the physical quantities.
